According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jerry Richardson’s sale of the franchise to hedge fund manager David Tepper could be completed on Tuesday.聽A vote would then take place at the NFL’s spring league meeting in Atlanta next week.

I believe that it is time to turn the franchise over to new ownership. Therefore, I will put the team up for sale at the conclusion of this NFL season. We will not begin the sale process, nor will we entertain any inquiries, until the very last game is played. I hope everyone in this organization, both on and off the field, will be firmly focused on just one mission: to play and win the Super Bowl.
Tepper has long been the favorite to buy the Panthers. The sale is expected to come in just above $2 billion. As a minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2009, league owners are familiar with Tepper. Also key to the purchase is the hedge fund manager’s plan to keep the Panthers in Charlotte.
The next step for the billionaire investor is to sell his minority stake Reto Berra Jersey in the Steelers and get approved by NFL owners. After being vetted, however, the sale is assumed to proceed without hitches.
Richardson has owned the team ever since its inception back in 1995.
Tepper, meanwhile, has been a minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers sine 2009. Per聽Forbes, the 60-year-old has a net worth of $11 billion. ESPN’s David Newton noted that Tepper鈥攚ho would have to sell his stake in the Steelers鈥攈as already been cleared by the league’s vetting process as a result of his previous investment.
Another year in a professional facility will also allow him to add more strength in order to fight through blockers and stop the run. Cunningham doesn’t play at a premium position, but he’s going to jump out as an all-around playmaker in the upcoming term.
